If you’ve been trying to upgrade your underwear drawer to natural fibers that don’t sacrifice comfort or cost $25 per pair, you’ve probably hit the same wall I did:
- Cotton options that don’t fit properly or fall apart quickly
- “Breathable” pairs that don’t actually hold up throughout the day
- Cuts that look good online but completely fail in real life
You’re not alone. That’s exactly why I launched my “I’m trying organic cotton underwear so you don’t have to series.” From reviewing cotton underwear brands you know and love to surfacing small businesses worth your attention, I’m covering it all.
That’s how I discovered La Coochie.
They position themselves as a non-toxic, organic cotton underwear brand that still prioritizes fit and femininity. I tested three of their core styles to see if that goal translated into everyday wear.
I put them through my full 100-point underwear scorecard system, testing for breathability, movement, fit, and long-wear comfort.
Here’s how it went.

Let’s Start With the Fabric (Because This Is Where Most Brands Fall Apart)
Before we even talk about fit, the fabric matters a lot. All three styles are made with:
- 95% organic cotton
- GOTS-certified materials
- OEKO-TEX® certified lace and mesh components
That combination is important because it tells you two things:
First, the cotton itself is grown and processed under stricter environmental and safety standards.
Second, the final product — including trims — has been tested for harmful substances.
In a category where “cotton” is often blended with synthetics or poorly processed, this is a noticeable upgrade. And more importantly, La Coochie doesn’t stop with certification commitment, they follow up with fit that’s true to size, comfortable to wear, and designed with you in mind.

Fit & Sizing: The Most Underrated Win
One thing that immediately stood out across all three styles was consistency in sizing. These fit true to size which cannot be said for a lot of cotton underwear brands!
There’s no:
- Guesswork between styles
- Unexpected tightness or looseness
- Awkward grading as sizes increase
Everything feels intentional and balanced, which is surprisingly rare, regardless of size ranges.
And because of that, you’re not constantly adjusting throughout the day, which is ultimately what makes or breaks underwear.
Organic Cotton Mid Rise Thong Review (92/100)
The one you’ll reach for without thinking
Let’s start with the style most people are skeptical about: a thong. You should see the comments on my organic cotton underwear review series on TikTok about how many people do not like, wear, or recommend thongs.
I’m here to say, I love them. Always have! More often than not, full coverage underwear makes me feel like I’m wearing a diaper while also somehow feeling borderline claustrophobic.
For me, I prefer wearing underwear styles that make me feel alive, sexy, confident, and comfortable, all at the same time. Thongs are a part of the collection of styles that help achieve that goal.
Love them or hate them, the Mid Rise Thong from La Coochie is beautifully designed, and only $12.
What stood out immediately
From the first wear, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a “tolerate it” situation:
- No pinching at the waistband
- No digging at the hips
- No awkward shifting throughout the day
I immediately thought, “now this is how a thong should make me feel.” It’s breathable, feminine, flattering, and true to size. I was impressed.
And the OEKO-TEX® certified lace detail adds enough interest that it doesn’t feel like a basic you forget about or rolled your eyes at before putting on this morning. It’s an everyday elevated basic that helps you feel good in your skin.
How it actually performed
- Gusset: 23/25
- Breathability: 17/20
- Movement: 19/20
- Fabric: 18/20
- Waistband: 15/15
- Total: 92/100
This is one of those rare pieces that disappear from your mind when you’re wearing it.
You’re not thinking about it, counting down until you can take it off, adjusting it all day, or giving up halfway through because it’s uncomfortable.
If you’ve historically avoided thongs, this is a very approachable place to start.
Organic Cotton High Rise Boyshort Review (91/100)
The practical summer staple that actually works
I’ll be honest, I went into testing the High Rise Boyshort with a high level of suspicion. The design looked too full coverage to be comfortable or feel remotely cute in.
If you don’t know, boyshorts tend to:
- Roll at the leg
- Ride up constantly
- Feel bulky under clothing
That’s why I occasionally opt for volleyball spandex under dresses because it provides security, stays put, and delivers a more seamless look (believe it or not).
That’s why I’m happy to report, this design fixes one of the biggest problems with boyshorts that will make me consider resigning my go-to spandex to my loungewear drawer.
The difference is in the cut
The slightly shorter front helps prevent that constant rolling and bunching you usually get with this style. It’s designed to follow the natural curvature of our thighs while offering more freedom to move your legs without feeling your underwear also move in response.
That one design choice makes a noticeable difference.
How it performed
- Gusset: 25/25
- Breathability: 17/20
- Movement: 16/20
- Fabric: 19/20
- Waistband: 14/15
- Total: 91/100
Where it fits into your wardrobe
This is where these really shine:
- Under dresses and skirts
- Warmer weather when you want more coverage
- Days where comfort matters more than invisibility
You still may get some visible lines depending on fabric, but in exchange, you’re getting coverage that actually stays in place, feels good on, and doesn’t feel like an adult diaper.
Organic Cotton High Rise Boxer Review (91/100)
The “wear at home and forget about it” pair
These lean more into loungewear territory, and that’s exactly how I’d use them.
They feel like soft cotton shorts. They’re not restrictive, and they’re not fussy. You could also wear them under a midi or maxi dress and skirt.
What stood out during testing
The leg seam may flip slightly, but it doesn’t ride up or become distracting, and there’s no discomfort overnight. You’re not dealing with overheating or moisture buildup either, which makes a noticeable difference when you’re sleeping or lounging.
Altogether, it delivers the kind of ease and barely-there feel that you actually want in something you wear for extended periods at home.
How it performed
- Gusset: 23/25
- Breathability: 17/20
- Movement: 17/20
- Fabric: 20/20
- Waistband: 14/15
- Total: 91/100
Real-life takeaway
The High Rise Boxer from La Coochie is ideal if you:
- Work from home
- Like sleeping in something breathable
- Want more coverage without restriction
These are an easy addition to your underwear or pajama drawer. They’re not designed to disappear under tight clothing — but that’s not the point.
Breathability & Odor: Where These Really Deliver
Across all three styles, the performance here was consistent:
- Strong airflow throughout the day
- Minimal odor buildup (9/10 across tests)
- No heavy or damp feeling after long wear
This is where the organic cotton and thoughtful construction shows up in everyday wear. With these styles from La Coochie, you’re not just getting a “natural” label, you’re getting clean, performance benefits that come from choosing natural fibers over synthetics in your underwear.
What Could Be Better (Keeping It Honest)
No product is perfect, and there are a few things to keep in mind before you buy:
- Boyshorts and boxers can show lines depending on outfit
- Boxer leg seam flipping might bother some people
- Not designed for high-intensity workouts
These are everyday, lifestyle pieces that you’ll reach for again and again.
Who This Brand Is Actually For
This line makes the most sense if you’re transitioning to natural fiber underwear, prioritizing breathability and non-toxic materials, or building a wardrobe of reliable, wearable basics you can reach for every day. It’s especially well-suited to someone who values comfort and simplicity over trend-driven design. That said, it may not be the best fit if you typically prefer seamless synthetics or compression-heavy styles, as the feel and structure are intentionally different.
Final Verdict: Is La Coochie Worth It?
After testing all three styles, the biggest takeaway is this: These are thoughtfully designed, elevated basics that actually hold up in real life.
Not just in how they look, but in how they:
- Move with your body
- Hold their shape
- Stay comfortable over time
And that combination is harder to find than it should be. If you’re upgrading your underwear drawer with intention, this is a very solid place to start.
