The Better Goods Field Guide

A searchable directory of brands worth your money, scored on how well they’re made, not how they’re marketed.

No brand pays for a better score. Ever.

“Which brands can I actually trust?”

We all have asked the same question a hundred different ways. Which brands make quality products that don’t just look good on your feed, but are made of non-toxic materials, hold up over time, and are worth the price tag?

I got tired of answering it one product at a time. So I built something bigger.

Every entry scored on what matters most

The Field Guide covers clothing, underwear, skincare, and home goods, and every entry is evaluated on the same five things. What shifts is how much each one matters for that category. Durability counts for more in a pair of jeans than it does in a candle. Ingredient safety counts for more in a serum than in a storage bin. The pillars stay consistent. The weighting adjusts to what you’re actually buying.

    Material Integrity

What it’s actually made of. Think fibers, ingredients, materials, and how they were processed.

    Transparency

What the brand discloses and proves, not just what it claims.

    Functionality

How well it’s built to perform for its actual use case.

    Durability

How long it should reasonably last, given normal use.

    Price Value

Whether the cost matches the materials and craftsmanship, not the marketing.

No brand can pay for a better score, and no category gets graded on a curve. Every entry is also checked against a shortlist of dealbreakers — things like undisclosed fragrance blends or greenwashed claims — that can override an otherwise decent score.

    Who this is for

If you’ve ever stood in front of a shopping cart wondering whether “clean” or “sustainable” or “natural” on a label actually means anything — this is for you. Better living isn’t about starting over or throwing everything out. It’s about choosing well, buying less, and keeping what lasts.
